Water Supply Schemes

Water is one of the basic necessity of industrial development. It has been estimated that 30.b.cu.meter of water alone to be required for industrial use. Further, unregulated growth in urban area has lead to water shortage for cities and long distance transfer are taking place like Delhi drawing water from Tehri dam and Chennai from Krishna through Telugu Ganga project.
Water being a state subject, most of the water treatment, supply and sewage are under the state departments are under municipal corporations or large panchayats for villages. More initiatives are being carried out for community water supply schemes, water re-circulation, effluent treatment to mitigate environmental problems
